The Controller plays a key leadership role in overseeing the company’s financial operations and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant reporting. This position blends deep technical accounting expertise with forward-looking financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and strong internal controls—foundational elements as we continue to scale our renewable energy projects.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is a vital member of our middle management team and will provide strategic financial insight to support sustainable business growth. This role requires a minimum of three days per week in the office at our Halifax, Nova Scotia headquarters.
What you Will be Doing
Lead the full-cycle accounting process, including month-end and year-end close, financial statements, and reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements specific to renewable energy projects, including tax credits, grants, and government programs.
Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting to support capital-intensive project development.
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decisions, project investment evaluation, and capital planning.
Oversee corporate compliance and registrations of parent and subsidiaries.
Partner with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership to track project financial performance.
Manage corporate and affiliate insurance policies.
Lead and mentor finance and accounting staff as the team grows.
What You Bring to Our Team
CPA designation (or equivalent) required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with 3+ years in a managerial or Controller role.
Experience in project-based industries, energy, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar). Proven ability to develop budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

We offer a hybrid work model with the expectation to come into the office three days a week where collaboration and idea generation happens at our Halifax hub. You’ll work remotely when you want focus time, we all need that sometimes to balance life and work.
